Do you trust me?
Aladdin was one of my children’s favorite movies. As in any animated movie, its content is full of fantasy, but it had its teaching moments. One of my favorites is the conversation between Aladdin and Jasmine when he invites her to go for a ride on the magic carpet. As expected, Jasmine asks “is it safe?”, to which Aladdin responds “Do you trust me?”
There are no magic carpets in real life, but life is full of events that make us feel like we are taking a ride into the unknown. It is easy to worry when facing the unknown. Is it safe? Will I make the right decision? Will I fail? However, worrying will not solve anything.
Life offers no certainties, but even with questions and doubts, we still need to face hardships that come our way. So, what do we do? How can we navigate through life’s challenges? We need someone to trust, and that someone is God.
Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7
Don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ … but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need… – Matthew 6:31-34
God knows your heart and is aware of every situation you are going through. He doesn’t want you to go through it alone, and He is whispering to you “Do you trust me?”
Why shall you give up to worry? You can trust your life to God, just like children trust their parents for all their needs.
Exchange your worries for the peace and confidence of a life lived trusting our all-powerful God.
