Hope Restored
The last few months have been really difficult. Many have suffered from the impact of the pandemic. Fortunately, it appears things are getting back to normal. We look forward to having hope restored.
Reality check: Maybe most of us will be fine, but there will still be those who continue to suffer and have no hope after this pandemic is over. What can we do about it? If each one of us were to do our part, we could get rid of most of the suffering and injustices. But we can’t help it; we are too selfish. We look out for ourselves first, and it is difficult to get to a point where we have become satisfied with what we possess.
No matter our best intentions, this is a problem we can’t solve. We live in a fallen world, and we are part of it. So how do we restore hope? We have to stop looking to ourselves and start looking to God.
God knew that we were hopeless, so about 2000 years ago He sent His only son to offer himself as a sacrifice to bring freedom from the sin enslaving humanity. But the story didn’t finish there, as after 3 days in the tomb, Jesus rose from the dead to bring us the hope of eternal life.
This world can’t give us hope. But in the midst of all its suffering, place your trust in God and you will be able to enjoy real hope.
For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. – 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
