Opportunity
Many people see the beginning of a new year as the gift of a new opportunity. But we know that as the year goes by we forget about our resolutions.
The effect of not fulfilling our resolutions is relative to their importance. Some of our resolutions may be trivial and not achieving them may have no effect, but others (like starting a healthier lifestyle) are more important, and failing to achieve them may have a negative impact in our lives.
The truth is that every day we live offers us the gift of a new opportunity that should be seized to fulfill the most important resolutions of our lives. What resolution can be more important than obtaining eternal life? This resolution may seem impossible to meet, but thanks be to God that Jesus did the hardest part. What is left for us to do? To confess and submit to Jesus as Lord and Savior.
But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith that we proclaim); because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. – Romans 10: 8-10
We may fail to achieve many of our resolutions, but we cannot afford to miss the most important. Today God offers you an opportunity to receive salvation and eternal life.
