It’s Time to Celebrate
There are many reasons to celebrate: the victory of your favorite team, a good grade on a test, a raise, a wedding, the birth of a baby, etc. Of course, each celebration is different.
Some events are celebrated with only a smile or applause. Others are worthy of shouting and jumping for joy. There are even events that you can celebrate with tears. The celebration also depends on the level of involvement of the person. For example, the parents of a newborn baby do not celebrate the same way as the friends of the family do.
The duration of a celebration also depends on the magnitude of the event. It is not the same to celebrate a victory in a baseball game as it is to celebrate a championship. In one case the celebration may last a couple hours, but in the other it can last for weeks.
No matter how significant an event has been, sooner or later we will no longer celebrate. However, there is an event which I am sure we will never stop celebrating: when we finally get into the presence of our God. Our experience with God will no longer be distant, as we shall see Him as He is (1 John 3: 2). There is no event of equal magnitude. Any other event is nothing when compared to this. We were not supposed to even have a chance to experience this event, but thanks to Jesus, we can now enjoy it.
How will this celebration be? I have no idea, but as MercyMe’s song says: I can only imagine. I do not know if I’ll be quiet or loud, whether I’ll laugh or cry, jump, kneel, be still or run. Only one thing I know: the celebration or the reason for the celebration will never end. The duration of the celebration will not matter, for it will be eternal. The resulting joy and happiness will no longer be relative, for they will no longer depend on the circumstances.
Knowing all this is sufficient reason to start the celebration.
