Back to school
Most schools have started or are about to start the new school year. It is a time awaited by many students, but not all. I am one of those who longed for the day when I would not have to return to school.
Although school days will eventually become a thing of the past, learning is something that never ends: learning is a lifelong process. Understanding this truth is of great importance, especially in the spiritual realm. The process of knowing God extends beyond our lives.
For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. – 1 Corinthians 13:12
Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. – 1 John 3: 2
It is important to be devoted to study God’s word and engage in activities that bring us closer to Him. However, no matter how long we spent on these activities we will never be able to say that our search is over and that we already know him fully. Nor shall we be conformed to what we have learned and the experiences of the past. To be conformed could lead us to feel self-sufficient, and as a result, lead us to act contrary to some of the teachings of our Lord. We must keep learning. We must continue to seek His presence.
And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. – John 17: 3
We will have to wait until eternal life to fully know God. Meanwhile, let’s ready ourselves to get back to school each day to learn the new teachings and experiences that God has in store for us.
