Making the best use of our time
One thing I like about the summer in North America is the longer days. They give me the opportunity to take advantage of additional hours of daylight after completing my work day. Unfortunately, this benefit can only be enjoyed for a limited time.
So is life: it can only be enjoyed for a limited time. This is why it is important to live our lives making the best use of our time.
We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming, when no one can work. – John 9: 4
A time will come when night will come upon us and our work will cease. This is why it is extremely important to make good use of our time by doing the right thing while it is day. How we use our time is up to each person. However, we have to consider that at some point we will have to answer to God.
Our works cannot reconcile us with God. Only through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus and accepting him as Lord may we receive the benefit of salvation. Therefore it is necessary to submit our lives in obedience to Jesus while the day lasts.
Obeying our Lord means to live according to His teachings. Most of us have been blessed with abundant resources. These resources give us the opportunity to follow the example of our Lord. What we do with these is our decision. But when night comes upon us it will be our God who decides who were those who truly served him.
And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ – Matthew 7:23
Lord! Help us to live our days making the best of every moment to glorify your name with everything in our lives.
