Just plug it
I remember a time when some mechanics that just finished repairing a machine were not able to start it. Step by step they checked every detail and everything seemed fine, but the machine would not start. A supervisor was patiently observing the whole process. After some time the supervisor asked “what if you connect the cable to the outlet?”
Our lives are similar. How many things we do to achieve happiness and it doesn’t matter what we do we fail? We achieve everything that we propose, but it seems that happiness is beyond our reach.
- I will be happy when I finish my studies and start my career, but …
- I will be happy when I get married, but …
- I will be happy when I have children, but …
- I will be happy when I buy the house of my dreams, but …
- I will be happy when I get the car I have always wanted, but …
- I will be happy when I get my dream vacation, but …
- I will be happy when I reach financial independence, but …
- I will be happy when I retire, but …
It seems that no matter what we achieve in our lives we fail to achieve happiness. But the truth is that the solution is as simple as it was for these mechanics.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. – John 15:5
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. – John 10:10
What if we connect our lives to the giver of life? Then your life will begin to make sense. Then no matter the current state of your life, what you have or what you do not have, you will achieve true happiness.
What are you waiting for? Just plug yourself to God.
