The right call
Making the right call could make the difference. A recent example is the Seattle Seahawks football team. Thought they were losing with less than a minute to play, a spectacular play changed their expectations, restoring their hope of achieving victory. With the possession of the ball one yard away from the goal line, Seattle seemed the sure winner.
However, in a blink of an eye the Seahawks executed a play that no one expected and lost not only the ball, but the opportunity to be the champions. For Seattle, not making the right call made a big difference. A reporter wrote: “But the Seahawks have only themselves to blame for the way history changed on a single play.” A tragic quote considering that it was only a football game.
However, there is an event that can really change our lives for eternity: our salvation. We all face eternal life with the sad reality that we have no way of achieving it. But with his redemptive death Jesus made a spectacular event that changed our reality from one of death to one of hope of eternal life. Now, achieving victory is in our reach. The game plan is simple:
if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved – Romans 10:9
This seems to be a very simple plan, taking into account that what is at stake is eternal life. But He who designed our plan of redemption knows the only play that will give us victory.
Victory is at hand. Now is up to us to make the right call by following the game plan outlined by our God: believing in his son and receiving him as our Lord.
