Christian Fashion
The word “fashion” sounded to me like a concept totally unrelated to Christianity. In fact, I thought there were no references to fashion in the Bible. That is, until I read Romans 13:14.
Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature. – Romans 13:14
The Bible might not be very specific about what to wear or what not to wear, but it is really emphatic about what our spiritual clothes (our behavior) should be. Christians are expected to be clearly identified by their spiritual clothes. When other people look at us they shall have no doubt of who we are, based on what they see in us. If we are clothed with Jesus, we are expected to display His attributes in our daily lives.
We can find additional references to “Christian Fashion” in Colossians and 1st Peter:
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience – Colossians 3:12
All of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. – 1 Peter 5:5
Let’s make sure that our spiritual wardrobe contains a good mix of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience, but above all, love. That way, no matter what we choose to wear we will always found ourselves clothed with Jesus.
