Blank check
Who would not like a blank check? It would not be a bad idea. What amount will you write if you knew that there are sufficient funds to cover the check? And now, what are you going to do with all that money?
Do you know that this is more than just a wish? This can be real for you.
I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.- John 14:12
However, this does not mean we can do whatever we want with this check, because this have a specific instruction: “For Deposit Only”. When a check is “For Deposit Only” it can only be deposited to a specific account.
So what can we do with this check? We can use it to fulfill the purposes of the one who gave us the check: Do greater things than Jesus. What things he did?
- Healed blindness, paralysis, leprosy, etc.
- Raise the dead
- Calmed the storm
- Forgave sinners
- Fed the hungry
- Drove out demons
- Brought word of hope to the needy
- Gave his life in sacrifice for all mankind
Our check gives us the ability to do the same things Jesus did and even greater. But like a check has no value while it has not being deposited, our check has no value no value until we use it. The value of this check is available to its holder, and it is up to the holder to decide to use it.
Can we cash this check? An identification is required to cash this check . It seems that Jesus is the only one that meets the requirements for this identification, but when we decide to cash this check we will have no problems because the presence of Jesus will be recognized us.
Jesus replied, “If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him. – John 14:23
What Jesus offers is much greater than anything that we can receive in this world (including all his money). It gives us the opportunity to be partners with Christ in his ministry.
He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”- Mark 16:15-18
There is no greater privilege than the power to do good to someone in representation of Christ. It is time for us to begin using our blank check so we can bless a world full of need. But let us not wait for the opportunity of something big. The truth is that in the Kingdom of Heaven anything that is something great.
- Smile to a stranger
- Help a neighbor
- Give support to the homeless
- Assistance to the needy
- Etc.
These small miracles will open the door for many people to open their hearts to God, and as we get involved we will see more we will see God doing greater things through us for His glory.
The check is in your hands: What will you do with it?
