Where and with whom would you prefer to be in the most important moment of your life? The answer offered by each one is expected to be different, however, something is for sure: many answers will include a favorite place with a friend or a loved one.
The criminals who were crucified with Jesus were not at their favorite place at the most decisive moment of their lives, but they were next to the person who could change the circumstances. One of them decided to continue his life in the same selfishness that perhaps brought him to the cross.
“Are you not the Christ? Save yourself and us!” – Luke 23:39
The other, recognizing his condition, decided to seize the opportunity.
“Do you not fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we are receiving the due reward of our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong.” And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. – Luke 23: 40-42
Your life might not be in the most favorite place, but even if that place was a cross, if you decide to tell Jesus that you want to be with him in his kingdom the situation will change drastically.
And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise. – Luke 23:43
What a story! From a criminal, to the cross, to death, to eternal life with Jesus, and all this in one day.
My story does not resemble that of these thieves, but I am worthy of the same condemnation. However, as one of the criminals, I made the decision to live the rest of my life next to Jesus.
Where and with whom you want to spend the most important moment of your life? No matter where, as long as it is next to Jesus.
